Recognition is always nice, especially when it is for a job well done and acknowledges the years of effort and attention to detail required to excel in a highly competitive profession.
An award celebrates your personal achievements, sacrifices, hard toil, and I was delighted to be awared the Wella Student of the Year Award during my third year of studies in Hairdressing VTCT SVQ (Level 3).
The evening itself was a lovely occasion, which i attended with my partner, and I have never been one to shy away from a glass of Prosecco and a selection of Hors d’Oeuvres! After these delectable refreshments the awards ceromony commenced and I had my moment on stage to collect my award certificate.
“Ani deserves this Wella Student of the Year Award. She puts a great deal of effort and determination into everything she does”
Jose – LEcturer, Edinburgh COllege
On the face of it, the award certificate is merely a piece of paper, albeit rather good quality paper, with some fancy script and my name upon it. However, the real value is in the personal reflection it triggers and the understanding of how far I have come.
Contemplating my journey over the years, the skills I have learned and practiced from my lecturers and managers at various salons, and more importantly, the clients I have made happy and the personal growth I have experienced.
The old cliche that “the journey is just as important as the destination” rings true. I also know that the path ahead of me remains long and that I will enjoy each step of the way as I continue to enhances my skills and creativity in my chosen profession.
